a NYC Fav Brunch Menu is Back + NEW Pita Shop, and a VIRAL Coffee Shop from LA Opens! On Deck 10/11

So much NYC Restaurant news this week! Here are the highlights of what you need to be eating this October!

Canto Cafe

Canto Cafe is the new to-go cafe of Canto West Village. Open Weds-Sunday 745am-4pm, you can find a menu full of breakfast and lunch options like the juices, gnocchi alla sorrentino, caramel macchiatos, chicken caesar wraps, and pastries!

Maru Coffee

Maru Coffee makes the jump from LA to Williamsburg! They have a menu of specialty coffees, signature drinks like the creamtop, and pastries from Frenchette!

Shifka

From the team behind Sami & Sasu comes Shifka, their new all day pita shop in Noho that opens October 14th! Inside of their fresh pita bread from Angel Bakery, you will fund cauliflower shawarma, sabich, schnitzel, and lamb kebab, plus za’atar fries on the side!

Ayah

Ayah in Soho is a new Moroccan restaurant, which wants to bring you not only the flavors, but the artistry and celebratory spirit of Morocco! Highlights of the menu include a Chhiwat Tower with lenil and butternut salad, carrot salad, eggplant zaalouk, taktouka, and a zucchini khilili salad, plus tagine dishes, couscous dishes, and an ayah burger that is a confit shredded lamb shoulder patty with labneh, aioli, and fries!

Sub-Mission

Hidden beneath Mission Ceviche in Union Square is their brand new cocktail lounge and private event space, Sub-Mission! Hidden behind the upstairs hostess stand, when you get downstairs you will find a beautiful lounge with a number of different liquors and sprits, and a menu with standouts like their spicy tuna crispy rice, truffle sliders with manchego cheese, and a lima sushi roll with yellowfin tuna, tartare, avo, aji amarillo, quinoa furikakae, and spicy mayo.

Mother’s Ruin

Back for the first time since shutting down for covid, Mother’s Ruin is relaunching their brunch service starting Oct 10 with brunch served everyday from 11am to 4pm! I love their chicken and waffles on legit eggo waffles, but then their have a crispy mortadella sandwich, crab cake benny, and a new brunch cocktail menu! I’m intrigued by the cereal milk iced latte with vodka, espresso, cinnamon, milk, and topped with whipped cream and fruity pebbles.
