What truly defines a breakfast burrito? I think we can get technical, but to me, its egg based, and wrapped up! No matter how you define it, it might be my favorite things to eat for breakfast, so I went on the hunt around NYC to find the best of the best! Below you will find each location, with a description, price, and google map. And of course, if I missed any, let me know in the comments.

Below are the 5 newest to the list!, but to see the complete list of all 15 spots check out substack, link below

Esse Taco- This taco shop in Williamsburg comes from the highly acclaimed chef, Enrique Olvera from both Cosme and Pujol, two of the best high end Mexican restaurants in the world! More known for their tacos, don't sleep on the trio of breakfast burritos that all come on a flour tortilla. The Ribeye has chihuahua cheese, caramelized onions and eggs, The Smoked Mushroom has smoked oyster mushrooms, refried beans, quesillo, and eggs, and finally the Pork Adobado has al pastor, oaxaca cheese, pineapple butter, and eggs.

Sonbul- Sonbul in Bed-Stuy is a Korean restaurant by night, and a Korean cafe by day, with just great vibes, and some fantastic food! Their k-breakfast burrito comes in a flour tortilla with a veggie omelet, cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, tater tots, and a kimchi ketchup, and then you have a bunch of different Korean meats you can add in also, and i went with their suggestion of jaeyook, which is a spicy marinated pork shoulder.

$12 + $6 jaeyook

Son Del North- Opened last year to huge acclaim, Son Del North has been praised for their sonoran style flour tortillas that wrap up each of their burritos that come with a number of proteins, that come with beans always and never rice. Their breakfast burrito has scrambled eggs, rajas, pico de gallo, beans, cheese, and I added in the bacon for an extra $3. This one is pricey, but it might be my favorite on the list! That tortilla really does make the biggest difference, and I LOVE the “mush factor” that the beans add in.

$16 + $3 Bacon

Sunday in BK- Sunday in Brooklyn is definitely a favorite of mine, I mean their pancakes are of course an absolute dream, but the whole menu is unreal! And A was psyched when they told me that they were adding a breakfast burrito to their brunch menu! Inside the tortilla are eggs, wood roasted chorizo, potatoes, onions, red peppers, cheddar cheese, and a salsa rogelio! That adobo seasoning they use, running through the whole bite is just fantastic, along with really eggs, and that crunch of the potato in the middle!

Willoughby General- Located in the heart of Bed-Stuy, Willoughby General is a cafe and general store reopened in 2018 with a focus on locally produced foods, goods, gifts, and more! Their breakfast burrito has eggs, a chipotle sauce, roasted red peppers, cumin black beans, and home fry style potatoes, and then you can pick either bacon, plant based with a turmeric tofu, or just veggie. Of course I got the bacon!

$10 +$2 Bacon
