This was my first trip to Paris in about 15 years, and over that time, alot has changed. Not only in the city of course, but for me. When I was there last time, it was just to visit my sister who was studying abroad, so this was the first time I was really there to dig into the food scene! What I found was a mix of classics of course, but also some stuff that really surprised me. Who knew I could get amazing Ramen in Paris?! So below is a list of my TOP 5 favorite restaurants, and if you want the full travel guide with all 13 spots, activities, tips, tricks, and a downable Google Map CLICK HERE.

L’as Du Fallafel- In the Jewish district of Paris, le marais, you can find one of the most famous falafel shops in the world! Since 1979 people have lined up for this pita completely overstuffed with falafel, fried eggplant, hummus, pickled cabbage, more veggies,

hummus tahini, spicy harissa, and I’m sure I’m forgetting more. You can sit inside, or grab one to go, which is what I did. It definitely lived up to the hype, and my favorite part was the eggplant!

It can definitely get crowded, so I went right when they opened on a Tuesday and there was no line, but be prepared to wait, and remember they are closed for shabbat.

Mokochaya- Mokochaya is an all day cafe and teahouse from the team behind two of Paris’s favorite restaurants, mokonuts, and mokoloco, both of those can be hard to get into, but I was able to walk right in here and have just the loveliest lunch.

They have a rotating selection of bento boxes for lunch each day starting at noon. That day they had duck, grilled cuttlefish, or what I got, the lotus croquette which is made up of lotus root, potatoes, beef, and sauteed onions. And that sits on a bed of white rice with cabbage, cucumbers, a side of potato salad, a jammy egg, and more!

And then DO NOT leave before getting a cookie too! I got their miso sesame chocolate chunk, just the perfect balance of sweet, bitter, and def salty!

Kodawari- Kodawari Ramen is an award winning seafood focused ramen shop that is built to recreate being in the old Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo! Like almost every last detail makes you feel like you are on the other side of the world! So obviously I would love it! They have another location that features more of the classic pork tonkotsu broth, but here they feature a seafood broth that comes from sardines! I got the pickled cucumbers, edamame, and the open gyoza, but then the main event, the ramen!

There were 6 ramens on the menu, but I went for their strongest, the Sardine Bomb that has this thick sardine broth with the ramen, miso tare, pork chashu, and I added the 48 hr tamago, and spicy sauce! Usually it comes with sardine fillets too, but they were out of it that this night, and added chicken instead. They are not joking about it being a bomb. This thing was so rich, and just UMAMI, capital U. I loved how strong it was, while not really being fishy at all. The noodles had a great chew, being made with wheat from their own field in the champagne region of France.

La Renommee- This was easily the best meal I had in Paris! From the team behind 4 Charles, you get one of the hottest and hardest reservations in Paris, which blends classic Parisian charm, with enough of that New York touch that def made me feel at home! We just went hard getting the escargot which was swimming in garlic and herb butter, the foie gras, the steak tartare was my favorite bite, and those came with thick thick fries and anchovy mayo, the pommes puree are the creamiest mashed potatoes ever, the burger is served at the bar downstairs, but they will let you order upstairs, and then do no skip dessert! The chocolate Mousse was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Its so dark, rich, and salty, and then just melts on your tongue!

Echo- Echo is an all day cafe, with strong Cali vibes actually, as the team is formally from Gjusta in LA! I got The Morning Sandy which combines both a breakfast sandwich, and a smashburger as it has a steak de boeuf smash, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg on this beautiful english muffin, asd well as a side of chili oil. The way the cheddar, the char from the burger, and yolk melded together was a thing of beauty!
