Congrats! You made it past the first date because you used my “1st Date Guide”! But now, it’s time to step it up, because its time for a second date! If you read my first guide, you know that I always want to just do drinks, but for the second date, it’s time to get some food! Obviously you want something that will suit their preference, but I also am excited to see how much they are excited by the foods and restaurants that I love. Don’t want to share? That’s a huge deal breaker to me! Once again, these are legit only places that I have taken on second dates

Here are some of my favorites, but to see the complete list of all 15 spots with a brief description of why I like it, with each neighborhood highlighted, and a google map with every location check out substack, link below
Bar Moga (noho)- Dark and moody vibes, jazz music, and a menu full of Japanese treats along with cocktails, Japanese whiskeys, and more! This cocktail bar really speaks to so much of what I love! The omurice is my favorite thing on the menu, it’s a must and easy to share, and definitely make your way through the cocktail menu as well, they have some really interesting drinks!

Emmett’s on Grove (noho)- Emmett’s on Grove is a love letter to the midwest tavern, wrapped in NYC vibes, and has great tavern style pizzas, pastas, burgers, and more, but it’s also one of the trendiest places you can go, everyone there is so hot and cool, it def sets the mood right for a date!

Thai Diner (noho)- One of my favorite restaurants in NYC, and really perfect for any occasion, it’s such a fun vibe with a menu full of Thai dishes with some diner flair. Just getting a reservation might be impressive enough, but there is so much to taste and share, and definitely some really fun drinks too! If you can’t get a rez, go put your name, and get a pre drink somewhere else as you wait!

Rule of Thirds (greenpoint)- Another top restaurant for me, it offers a beautiful, light-filled space with exposed brick and concrete floors, creating a trendy yet warm ambiance perfect for a date. Plus a large selection of fun cocktails and a sake and wine list. And of course there is the food, which has a full array of Japanese favs from karaage, sushi, wagyu, onigiri, and so much more! I love every bite.
