Rosh Hashanah Specials in NYC for a Sweet New Year!

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins next week. It’s a time for reflection, community, and of course, food. Traditionally, people attend services for two days and celebrate with symbolic foods like round challah, apples, and honey, wishing for a sweet year ahead. So whether you’re bringing treats to family, looking for a small way to join the celebration, or simply in search of something delicious, here are some New York City specials to enjoy!
Breads Bakery- So many treats from Breads Bakery, all always so good!
Challah- They have centerpiece challah with a ceramic bowl in the middle for dipping, festive challah, an apple challah with a whole baked apple in the middle with cinnamon and almond cream, and then a cinnamon raisin challah!
Sweets- Medovik, safta cake, honey cake, date swirl cookies, and an apple galette.
Babka- They have an apple babka with granny smith apples, and their classic chocolate babka
Honey- They have their own honey which comes from a rooftop above Union Square, and a marzipan honey

Russ and Daughters- Russ and Daughters has a special package of treats you can order for $75, or a la cart! They have a round challah, honey cake, noodle kugel, honey, apples, salmon and whitefish gefilte fish, and horseradish.

Miriam- Three specials at all of Miriam’s locations! They have a special apple cider cocktail, a latke with apples and honey, sour cream and apple sauce , and a baked apple dessert.

Mimi Chengs x Jacks Wife Freda- For the month of September, Mimi Chengs has collaborated with Jacks Wife Freda to create a matzo ball dumpling soup! It’s the Jacks Wife Freda Matzo Ball recipe in a Mimi dumpling, with a classic chicken broth soup and fresh dill! It will be available at all of their locations.

Edith’s Sandwich Counter- Edith’s keeps introducing new special slushie flavors, and this month they have an Apple Cider Slushie made with 100% NY Apple Cider, no sugar added! They will also have round challahs from Oneg Bakery.

Orawashers- Similar to Breads, Orawshers has so many treats this year!
Challah- A classic round, chocolate chip is loaded with chocolate chunks, and a raisin
Babka- They have their classic chocolate babka, and cinnamon babka
Cakes- An apple honey cake, a marble cake which is a chocolate and vanilla sponge cake, and a seven layer cake that is a vanilla sponge cake layered with chocolate mousse, and covered in a chocolate ganache.
Cookies- They have a chocolate chip, a black and white, and of course rugelach in apricot, chocolate, and raspberry flavors
